Activities

Banana Beach offers the perfect spot to wind down and enjoy the quiet lapping of the waves, the calls of the monkeys, and the songs of the exotic birds.  Hang out in our Mystic Beach Bar and Restaurant. Enjoy scratch-made food and the local favorite, a rum and Coke. Or take part the great ecotourism and water sports like wind surfing and snorkeling that Trujillo Bay has to offer.
At Banana Beach, we provide easy ways to explore the surrounding areas, and will happily arrange tours of the mountains, rivers, wildlife reserves, and towns of Trujillo and Sante Fe for you.
Interested in a truly green eco tour? We’re just a short drive away from the Guaimoreto Lagoon Wildlife Refuge, a mangrove habitat considered one of the most beautiful and exotic reserves in all of Honduras. It’s also home to white-faced monkeys, waterbirds, turtles, iguanas, and hundreds of fish species. And we are close to Parque Nacional Capiro-Calentura, a protected national park featuring rare and endangered species.
Not only are we engulfed in beautiful scenery, we’re also close to unique cultures and villages that are sure to make your trip even more inspirational.
About 20 minutes away from our beach retreat is Trujillo, a small Honduran town featuring a lively central square and the remains of a Spanish fortress (Forteleza de Santa Barbara), which dates back to 1502.
And just a 10-minute walk down the remote beach is Sante Fe, a Garifuna village founded in 1882. The Garifuna are descendants from African slaves and have retained their centuries-old customs and heritage. Sante Fe offers seaside restaurants as well “punta” dancing, fresh fish, “pan de coco” (coconut bread), glorious views, and an opportunity to explore a unique culture.
